This lion's eyes are so realistic that he looks as if he could leap off the wall and grab you. The male lion lives like a King. The females do all of the hunting for food and he eats before the females and cubs. Only when he has had his fill do the rest of the pride get to eat. Yet, all is not roses. The job of the male is to protect the pride from roaming young males not affiliated with a pride. These bachelors will challenge the existing male to a battle, often to the death or until one or the other is run off. If the newcomer wins he will kill all cubs in the pride so as to bring the mother into estrous. He can then mate with her and produce his own cubs, assuring his blood line's survival.
