Blue Dichroic Pendant Necklace

Dazzling watery blue depths glow in this pendant.

This soulfully blue dichroic pendant was languishing in an art gallery in Omaha, Nebraska.  Its depth called to me, but it is such a strong statement that I set it aside several times.  Nothing seemed to go with it.  One day I was working with some Paui shell discs that made me want to drag out the pendant.  From there the necklace sort took form.  Each kind of bead had to have its own depth of color but it could not detract from the focal point of the necklace.
 
The result is a necklace that subtly changes color from the light around it.  From different angles, the pendant reveals not only blue, but purple, magenta, rose and turquoise.  The aurora borealis jet beads and the myoki beads also undergo changes in color.   The pipe beads are sometimes black, but in the light, they reveal their deep blue color.  I used sterling and Bali silver to add interest to the design.
