Malachite, Onyx and Silver Malachite, Onyx and Silver
Full Size Image Asymmetry with balance in Malachite green and black with accents of SilverThe beautiful green foil bead was sent by a friend attending a bead show in Las Vegas. It naturally dominates a necklace. I tried it centered both horizontally and vertically and did not like it so I just kept moving it around on the bead board while trying various combination of things . Regular onyx was ho hum, but the jet bi-cones had some kick. The Malachite match surprised me, and I liked it. However, if one places a heavy bead on one side of a necklace, it must be counter-balanced by equal weight on the other side to hang properly. To the eye, it is more pleasing if on the whole, there is a basic sense of symmetry. In other words, we humans seem to seek order in some form, even in art. In this case, I have used color to achieve that symmetry.
