Full Size Image These sea opal ovals show their delicate milky-blue color best on black velvet and other dark, dramatic fabrics.Sea Opal is a man-made gemstone, sometimes referred to as Opalite. Opalite can be other gemstones. I had to work to find that out. I could see that the ovals I bought were hand-crafted, delicate, and lovely. That was good enough for me until I had to describe them to other people. I put them with silver and little moonstones. I also added tiny blue crystals. The silver cloisonné beads provided the contrast I wanted. With their violet, ruby and emerald green enamel, they add color without overwhelming the soft
sea opals. This is a party necklace, but who says what constitutes a party or when one has to have it? I made some earrings to match. After enlarging the image, click on the image again to see the details up close.
