Baobab Trees shown in this limited edition Giclée print live for hundreds of years, in part because they are not susceptible to the stripping of their bark by elephants which kills ordinary trees. They only have leaves for short periods of time during the wet season, conserving their energy. Trunks of the Baobab rival the giant redwooods of California in girth often growing to 20 feet or more in diameter, but not as tall.These trees are growing on the edge of the desert where they get very little water.
