From the Earth, a Geode, Jasper, Hematite and Silver Pendant

A geode slice from the Nature Store offers timeless beauty.

Geodes have long fascinated me.  I have a drawer full of beautiful geode slices.  They make beautiful jewelry, but I hate to drill holes for fear of ruining them.  This geode slice had an interesting hole in the middle.  I love its blacks and grays with just a spot of red.  As a pendant, there needed to be an interest in the center of the pendant.  The red spot suggested Poppy Jasper and the gray suggested hematite so I hung a dangle there with a silver wire.

The pendant is strong and putting it on a sterling chain or a single beaded wire made it look wimpy.  When I tried dual hematite wires that joined through a Jasper bead and added sterling spacers, the necklace began to take shape.  It was not easy, but I think the handsome results made it worth the effort.
