Amber wears well, and I have at least six necklaces as well as earrings.  For one thing, it is lightweight by itself so you can put it with heavier metals or beads without the effect of carrying an anvil around your neck.  Amber appears in an amazing array of colors and translucencies from clear to nearly opaque.

The beautifully matched apricot-colored beads in this necklace have gone through five iterations, including a dazzling one with onyx that my husband referred to as Halloween wear.  Not wishing that reference, I kept trying until I came up with the present balance of materials.  It is still a fashion statement, but not as limited as the amber/onyx combination, and I love the addition of the blue tiger eye and the ornate antiqued beads and clasp.
